U-Pick 10/26 - 10/28

Posted by on in Hot Topics At The Farm

The  final u-pick weekend (10/26 - 10/28) of the year is upon us and we'll be picking Goldrush and Stayman Winesap.   U-pick Stayman Winesap are available while supplies last, and are near the end of their picking window.  We recommend buying as many Staymans as you can use within the next two to three weeks.  If you're looking for long-term storage, you can do no better than Goldrush!

Goldrush is growing in popularity and for good reason: it possesses very intense apple flavor, stores exceptionally well, and is outstanding for use in the kitchen as well as eating out-of-hand.  Arguably the best apple variety we grow!

Stayman Winesap is an heirloom variety that has withstood the test of time.  A very good all purpose apple, it consistently delivers great flavor and is a versatile apple in the kitchen.

The orchard will be open from 9 a.m. - 6 p.m. Friday -Sunday (10/26 - 10/28).  All u-pick apples are priced at $20 per large bag (holds twenty pounds when filled) and $12 per small bag (holds ten pounds when filled), and we provide containers.

It's Goldrush time!

Posted by on in Hot Topics At The Farm

                                             goldrush

U-pick this weekend features Goldrush, Stayman Winesap, Rome, Granny Smith, and Braeburn (Granny Smith and Braeburn likely available only Friday).  U-pick hours are 9 a.m. - 6 p.m. Friday - Sunday (10/19 - 10/21).

A note about Goldrush: it is the most intensely flavored apple we grow, stores extremely well, and is very versatile.  Our crop this year is outstanding, and you cannot buy them in grocery stores.  Plan a visit to the farm this weekend and sink your teeth into the Goldrush experience and discover a real treasure!

Stayman Winesap is an heirloom variety that has withstood the test of time!  Classic apple flavor combines with excellent baking qualities to make this apple a real winner.  The crop this year has never been better!

Rome originated in southern Ohio nearly two hundred years ago and has been grown on our Morse Road farm for four generations.  Rome trees laden with fruit are a thing of beauty!  A commonly asked question over the last two weekends by customers exiting the farm near the Rome trees is "What are those apples? We'd like to get some of them!"  They're available, just ask, and we'll point you in the right direction.

Granny Smith and Braeburn are two varieties we don't grow a lot of, but we do have them available for u-pick this weekend.  Supplies are limited and not likely to last past Friday evening or possibly Saturday morning.

The pumpkin patch is still loaded with pumpkins, your choice this weekend just $4 each.  Pumpkins are also avilable at the market in a wide range of sizes and shapes.  Priced from $1 and up.

It's Pumpkin Time!

Posted by on in Hot Topics At The Farm

blue jacket pumpkin

It's October, and the pumpkin patch beckons!

October is a great time to visit the farm!  Crisp, juicy apples picked straight from the tree and the perfect pumpkin discovered in the patch are just a couple of the experiences awaiting your family this weekend.  Here is a listing of the activities this weekend (10/5 - 10/7):

U-pick apples include Suncrisp, Melrose, Golden Delicious and Red Delicious.

Suncrisp and Melrose will be available Friday, Saturday, and possibly Sunday.  Suncrisp and Melrose are each sweet apples with a little zip, making them excellent for eating out of hand and for use in the kitchen.  Not available in stores, be sure to visit the farm and discover what real apple flavor tastes like!

Red and Golden Delicious will be available the entire weekend and are two world famous varieties that appeal to those who have a preference for sweet apples.  This past summer's hot dry weather may have been rough on people, but it made the fruit as sweet as it could possibly be.  One bite and you'll be convinced!

U-pick apples are priced at $20 per large bag (holds approximately twenty pounds when filled) and $12 per small bag (holds approximately ten pounds when filled), and we provide containers.

The entrance for the Suncrisp/Melrose orchard is located at 9263 Morse Rd., Pataskala, and the entrance for the Delicious orchard is located near the corn maze, which is west of the Morse Rd/S.R. 310 traffic light.

The u-pick pumpkin patch holds the perfect pumpkin for your family, but you'll have to search to find it!  The patch is open Friday through Sunday from 9 a.m. - 6 p.m.  All pumpkins from the patch are priced at $6 each.  Friday's patch location is near the corn maze (on Morse Rd. west of S.R. 310) and the patch location for Saturday and Sunday will be indicated by directional signage located at the Morse Rd/S.R. 310 intersection.

Asian pears will be available for u-pick Friday morning (10/5) while supplies last!  U-pick Asian pears are priced at $1.50 per pound. Orchard entrance located at 9263 Morse Rd, Pataskala.
